Have a question about the Over30Experiences Croatia trip?

Can I opt-out of an included activity?

Of course! This trip is your trip, and you don’t have to participate in anything you don’t want to. Just be aware that opting out of included activities will not change the price of the trip.

When is the best time to visit Croatia?

The best time to visit Croatia is in May and June or September and October when the weather is pleasant and sunny. This makes it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. It is also less crowded at these times than in the summer months of July and August, which are high season and can be very hot.

What are the accommodations like in Croatia?

You will be staying in 3-star hotels in Split, Korcula, and Dubrovnik. Breakfast will be served at each of these hotels. Air-conditioning will be available as well.

What types of transportation will we be using?

You will be in private vehicles for drives in Split, Korcula, and on the main peninsula to Dubrovnik.

When traveling in between the islands, we will use public ferries just like the locals.

What type of food will we be eating?

The cuisine that dominates the area you will be traveling to is similar to Mediterranean cuisine.  So expect olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices.

The most common foods are seafood and vegetables. You will have the option to dine on fresh fish right from the Adriatic Sea. However, you can also expect meats such as lamb, veal, and poultry.

What type of luggage is best?

The lighter the better! If you only have a rolling suitcase that will work, but if you can get your hands on a more mobile bag, like a large backpack, that would be better. We take all forms of transportation, and loading your suitcase on and off all the ferries can be challenging. You'll also want a daypack for your personal gear, food, and drinks for the day.

What do I need to pack?

Make sure you pack a Universal Adapter to charge your electronics. Croatia operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.

Bring layers for cooler nights. The breeze off the ocean can cause seaside cities’ temperatures to drop significantly later in the day, so it’s always a good idea to bring a sweater.
Sun protection is a must. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen with a high SPF are highly recommended to avoid sunburn.

Motion sickness medication. If you tend to get seasick, you will want medication for all the ferry rides you will be taking throughout this itinerary.

Remember to be eco-friendly: Bring "reef safe" sunscreens that do not contain oxybenzone and octinoxate because they kill coral. Bring a reusable water bottle to refill from the tap. Bring a reusable straw to limit the use of single-use plastic waste.

What is the physical level of this trip?

Moderate: This trip is a good mix of activity and relaxation and includes moderate physical activities. Participants should expect to be active 3-4 hours most days. An active lifestyle is helpful though not required to enjoy the trip.

What if I have allergies and/or dietary restrictions?

If you have any diet restrictions or allergies, we’ll do our best to arrange a special menu for you as we want everyone to be well-fed!

How much time do we spend in Dubrovnik?

There are two nights in Dubrovnik on this Over30Experiences Croatia itinerary.

On Day 6, you will arrive in the afternoon and take a walking tour along the ancient walls with a visit to one or two main city attractions.

On Day 7, you will have a full day to explore Dubrovnik as you please. The only included activity on this day is the farewell dinner that evening.

Your Trip Leader can assist you in selecting the optional activities that fit you best.

Can we find ATMs in Croatia?

ATMs are nearly everywhere in Croatia, especially the locations on our itinerary. Visa and Mastercard are commonly accepted credit cards. You may have trouble finding businesses that accept American Express.

Is tipping common in Croatia?

Tipping in Croatia isn’t obligatory, but is most appreciated. It isn’t considered offensive not to leave a tip but is a great way to show gratitude for a job well done.

The jobs for which tipping in Croatia is expected are similar to most other western countries and include waiters, bartenders, tour guides, hotel staff, general services, and housekeepers.

It is also proper etiquette to give small tips to taxi cab drivers, apartment doormen, beach vendors, and parking attendants

Can I drink the water in Croatia?

Yes, tap water in Croatia is safe to drink.

Do you have last-minute deals?

Yes! When travelers take advantage of our “Switch Your Trip” program, last-minute slots open up on sold-out trips.
